Episode 30a: Why superstars are social constructions

Summary:

Why is so hard to predict who will be a superstar given they dominate their rivals so much, suggesting they're that much better? How can we not know in advance? We start off with results from the jelly bean estimation game, and then work through methods of voting and estimation, how things can go wrong, fish pecking orders, and end with the Music Lab experiment. And we then uncover the narratively invisible power of random social construction.
