Episode 104: Optimal Supply networks: The braid or the branch, that is the question of networkfulness

Summary:

We start with an overview of optimal supply networks and look at a few general results including when braiding versus directed networks arise, networks for the Monge problem, and leaves (leaves are cool). We then derive the delightful Murray's Law* using a simple optimality argument to find a splendid radius cube law for optimal branching, and inspect what happens with a Tokunaga structure. Sporks do not need to be optimized as they are the paragon of all human creation.
