Episode 10: Rummaging around in the big box of random networks
Summary:
More recap (with extras) from Principles of Complex Systems. We move past random networks Poisson degree distributions (almost all of them) to arbitrary degree distributions (the ones that matter) (reality is about becoming). We revisit the construction of generalized networks, motifs, strange friends, and the condition for a giant component. We fall into an easy trap and start to claw our way out, first using generating functions.
